About the course
A useful course for gaining the fundamentals required for the industry. During the week you will build the confidence with the tools and some of the materials commonly used. The course will contain a mixture of theory and practical.
The course covers:
Health and safety along with the requirement for Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE).
The building regulations applicable to partitions in respect of structure and fire.
Safe working practices and correct use of the tools and equipment, specialist to the trade.
Planning and pricing of stud partition walls and different types of walls and fixings.
Fixing basic stud wall partitioning, allowing for door and window openings.
Marking out of, cutting and fixing internal door frames.
Hanging of an internal door, and the fitting of the associated furniture (locks handles hinges).
Marking out and cutting of basic joints and profile cutting (mitre / scribing) for skirting and architraves.
Planning and fixing of different types of skirting and architraves.
Planning and fixing of floor coverings (laminate).
