Tiling Course One of our range of Tiling courses, the 7-week Wall & Floor Tiling Advanced Construction Award is designed to enable adult learners to acquire the qualification, knowledge and skills to start a career in the Tiling industry.

The joint awarding bodies Construction Skills and City & Guilds run the qualification, which can be converted into the Wall & Floor Tiling NVQ 3 once in the workplace with evidence from the Tiling installations you undertake.

This 7-week course is the most comprehensive of all our Tiling courses, covering all areas of Wall & Floor Tiling including:

Tiling CoursesWhilst on the course you will work through a variety of bays (kitchen and bathroom etc). You will choose materials and adhesives for the bay and Estimate and design the tiling as you progress, either to your design or a given brief (as a customer would supply). You will prepare the surfaces and then use a wide variety of tiles including ceramics, terracotta, natural stone etc, in a variety of patterns to give different designs & finishes to a customers requirements. Your Tiling will reach industry standards to achieve the Advanced Construction Award - Wall & Floor Tiling.

Tiling courses teach techniques for dealing with problems areas, including damaged plaster, window recesses, pipes, uneven walls, levelling floors etc, giving the ability to tile in real life situations.

Accuracy will be stressed on ACA Wall & Floor Tiling courses, ensuring you tile to the highest standards, over the duration of the course your speed will build.

At the conclusion of the course you should be able to undertake any Tiling installation that you come across, whatever design or type of tile to an industry accepted standard.

About the Wall & Floor Tiling Advanced Construction Award.

Tiling CoursesAdvanced Construction Award Wall & Floor Tiling courses are aimed at people who are not at this moment working in the Tiling industry or people wishing to change trades, either from within the construction industry or not. All assessments and training for ACA Wall & Floor Tiling courses are completed within training establishment. All the units from the ACA Wall & Floor Tiling courses are related to their equivalent NVQ unit, and will tell you which extra evidence is needed to gain the related unit once working on site.

To achieve this award you must also pass an independent Health & Safety test and a knowledge test Knowledge tests are externally set and marked by the C.I.T.B - Construction Skills on set dates through out the year.

ACA Wall & Floor Tiling courses, once completed, can be converted to a NVQ 3 with relevant workplace experience.

ACA required for ACA Wall & Floor Tiling courses:

ACA 173 Assist in establishing the operational area.
ACA 174 Assist with progressing operations.
ACA 175 Assist with organising resources.
ACA 252 Co-ordinate self and others to produce complex Wall & Floor Tiling.
ACA 253 Set out for complex Tiling.


Health & Safety will be integral to all Tiling courses, the above ACA units, as will knowledge requirements.

Both the practical and knowledge elements of the qualification are covered.
Theory homework will be set whilst on the ACA Tiling courses and need to be completed.

Healthy and Safety

ACA Wall & Floor Tiling courses require to cover the health and safety procedures you will encounter whilst working on site. ACA Tiling courses need you to sit a Health and Safety test, which will count towards your CSCS card.

Tiling courses include a comprehensive information package to give the knowledge necessary to start a Tiling business, covering:

Finding an accountant, Speaking to the Tax Office, National Insurance Contributions, How to make a business plan, Public Liability Insurance, Self Employment Advice, Organising Business stationary, an Internet site, Work wear, Tools, Trade accounts, Marketing and the Approximate cost of setting up your business.
