About the course

Our 1-week Tiling course is designed to give basic Tiling skills and information necessary to tackle most situations.

There will be a business start-up seminar covering, how to start your business, advertising and marketing and obtaining work together with your legal responsibilities as self-employed trades person.

The course consists of approximately of two days wall tiling; two days floor tiling, half a day of theory and half a day of tool and cutting training.

The course starts on the Monday with an introduction to the training centre, health & safety, good practise & basic rules of tiling.

You will then be shown the tools of the trade and have their specific uses explained for tiling installations, estimating, measuring, marking & cutting of tiles.

Information is given on how to prepare surfaces, adhesives, grouts, under floor heating and types of tile to enable you to select the appropriate tile & fixing agent for the job to be carried out.

You will then move on to manual tile cutting techniques (including nippers) and machine tile cutting techniques.

Next you will be shown how to set out and how to perform an installation, including trim insertion and levelling of returns.

You will then carry out your wall & floor tiling installation over the next 4 days using rapid setting adhesives, grouts and related products.

The centre opening times are 8.00am to 4.00pm Monday to Friday inclusive.

Information is given in a folder providing you with a tiling reference, that you can consult on completion of the course.
