About the course
This course is designed for individual learning requirements, either to cover the basics for working at home or to add to skills for those already in the building trade. Extra assistance will be given in areas which you may find difficult. This course will help build your confidence and knowledge in carcassing be it a basic flat roof through to hand cut roofs.
Areas you will cover are:
Health and safety along with the requirement for Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE) and working at height.
Safe working practices and correct use of the tools and equipment.
The building regulations applicable to flooring and roofing in respect of structure and fire.
Joist work including fixing openings and strutting to allow for chimney breasts and stair cases.
How to install a flat roof including firings and decking, including the finishing touches such as fascia soffit and battens.
Basic timber pitched roof including, lengths bevels and geometry, carpenters squares and roofing calculations.
The depth of the above subjects will depend on the individual's experience and personnel requirements.
If this week is part of a multi-week course, help can be given with any subject you may need to brush up on or learn about, be it sharpening a chisel or fitting bathroom encasements just ask we are here to help.
