In todays expanding construction market there is a huge shortfall in the required amount of qualified electricians.
A qualified electrician can enjoy a secure and fulfilling career with an excellent income and varied work on a day-to-day basis.
You can choose to run your own business and enjoy the rewards of flexible working hours, job security and an excellent income. The business owner can set their own charges accordingly keeping the profits to invest and grow the business as they see fit.
Should you wish to be employed, you may work for an electrical contractor in both domestic and commercial environments.
Alternatively you can use your skills in other ways such as electrical consultancy, distribution or design.
The competent electrician is guaranteed a job for life.
How to achieve Qualified Electrician Status.
You will need to complete the City & Guilds 2330 Level 2 & 3 in Electro-Technical Technology this will mean you are recognised as a technically qualified electrician.
You may then register for the City & Guilds 2356 Level 3 NVQ in Installing Electro-Technical Systems. This NVQ qualification requires onsite experience and will be assessed on site verifying your ability to put knowledge in to practice.

THE COURSES IN MORE DETAIL:
City & Guilds 2330 Electro-Technical Technology Certificate - Level 2.
Home Study Course - Level 2
The course delivers the underpinning knowledge required for work in the electrical industry.
Covering electrical theory, electrical techniques, science principals and health & safety necessary for electrical work.
Whilst on the City & Guilds 2330 Level 2 you will cover the following units:
- Unit 201 Working efficiently & safely in an electro technical environment.
- Unit 202 Principles of electro-technology
- Unit 203 Application of health & safety principles
- Unit 205 Installation (Buildings & Structures).
Each of the above units is assessed by an online multiple-choice examination set by the City & Guilds; you will need to attend the centre for these exams.
A practical assessment / assignment at the training is required to complete the course.
Exams and practical assessment are carried at our centre, taking approximately 5 days.
Please Note: You will also be required to carry out practical exercises, these can be either at your own location or carried out at our training centre if required, at the daily workshop rate which is available on request.
The course is studied from home using a specially designed DVD. A series of tutor marked assessments/assignments provide feedback on your progress. Students are supported through the course by email, telephone and designated advice and guidance session.
City & Guilds 2330 Electro-Technical Technology Certificate - Level 3.
Home Study Course - Level 3.
This course builds on the knowledge and skills gained on the City &Guilds 2330 level 2, by delivering further knowledge and skills which can used in achieving the City & Guilds 2356 NVQ Level 3.
Whilst on the City & Guilds 2330 Level 3 you will cover the following units:
- Unit 301 Application of Health & Safety Principles.
- Unit 302 Inspection Testing & Commissioning.
- Unit 303 Fault Diagnosis & Rectification.
Each of the above units is assessed by an online multiple-choice examination set by the City & Guilds, you will need to attend the centre for these exams.
A practical assessment / assignment at the training centre is required to complete the course.

City & Guilds NVQ Level 3 2356 Certificate in Installing Electro-Technical Systems
Once you have started work in the Electrical Industry you may enrol on the City & Guilds NVQ level 3 2356 Installing Electro-Technical Systems.
You will be required to build an evidence portfolio of work you have undertaken and will be assessed on site to verify that you are competent in the workplace.
The training centre will monitor your evidence gathering progress, giving advice as to what is necessary.
You can enrol on the City & Guilds 2356 Level 3 through Career Essentials, a package price will be agreed with you dependant on your location and visits to the workplace required.
